The town of Apex is one of the small town delights located in the Triangle area, where the owners of Apex homes enjoy all of the conveniences of big city living coupled with charm and history of a small town.
Apex was first incorporated in 1873 and named for its location as the highest point along the Chatham Railroad, extending from Richmond, VA to Jacksonville, FL. In fact, the Apex railroad station was chartered in the mid 1800s and a lovely community of shops and trading posts soon sprang up around the station. At the heart of town is the Apex Union Depot, which was originally a passenger station for the Seaboard Air Line Railroad, but now serves as the Apex Chamber of Commerce.
The owners of Apex homes have taken great care over the years to preserve the downtown area, whose restored buildings feature unique specialty stores, antique stores, an old-fashioned soda shop, and several quaint restaurants and cafes. The restoration efforts of the owners of Apex homes paid off, as it was awarded a spot on the National Register of Historic Places.
The town has grown to include excellent shopping and dining, including Beaver Creek Commons, which has been voted the best non-mall shopping center in the area. Apex homes are located near major entertainment venues, the state's top colleges and universities, museums and cultural centers, internationally recognized hospitals, as well as RTP and RDU International Airport. Not to mention, the city is centrally located so that Apex homes are near some of the best vacationing the state has to offer, being a few hours to the North Carolina coast in one direction and the Blue Ridge mountains in the opposite direction.
The world has discovered what a great place Apex is to live. In 2007, Money Magazine ranked Apex as the 14th Best Place to Live in America. In July 2009, the city still held a high spot on the coveted list. Apex homes have been consistently chosen because of its safe neighborhoods, vibrant economy, excellent public schools, and true sense of community. Apex residents truly embrace the towns motto of "The Peak of Good Living." Now is the time for real estate owners to being looking at Apex homes.
