Caswell County real estate, located to the north of Orange County, was formed in 1777. The county was named after Richard Caswell, the governor of North Carolina from 1776 to 1780. Caswell County real estate, located to the north of Orange County, was formed in 1777. The county was named after Richard Caswell, the governor of North Carolina from 1776 to 1780. Leasburg was originally the county seat, however, after the eastern half of Caswell County became Person County, the seat was moved to what is now Yanceyville.

The county is now divided into nine townships; Anderson, Hightowers, Leasburg, Locust Hill, Providence, Milton, Pelham, Stoney Creek and Yanceyville. Caswell County real estate is roughly 425 square miles of forest and rolling hills. Hyco Lake is also found in Caswell. Caswell County real estate is home to the Slade family, who invented a process of curing bright leaf tobacco, revolutionizing the tobacco industry and making tobacco a cash crop, bringing vast amounts of wealth the region.

Caswell County Real Estate and Demographics

As of the 2000 census, 23,501 people resided in 8,670 households, roughly two thirds of them family households, and the population is slowly but steadily rising. The median age is 38, while the median income is $35,018. 14% of the population lives under the poverty line, while the average family size is 3.01.

Caswell County Culture

Caswell County real estate is a great place for relaxed, outdoor living. However, it's only a short drive from Greensboro, Chapel Hill or Raleigh. There's excellent, live entertainment at the Caswell County Civic Center, and recreational programs such as youth leagues for baseball, softball or basketball are offered through the brand new Caswell County Sports Complex. Caswell County real estate is also home to Hyco lake, a public lake open to skiing, fishing and other activies. Many homes and lots are available around the lake.
