Clayton County is also home to one of the busiest airports in the United States, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport.  It employees over 35,000 people of which one-third live in the county.  Actually, nearly half of the residents work within the county unlike other metro Atlanta counties.

There are many natural retreats in Clayton County real estate which include Reynolds nature Preserve, the Newman Wetlands Center, Lake Blalock and Lake Shamrock. The campus of Clayton State College also attracts acclaimed performers for your enjoyment at the world-renowned Spivey Hall.  The county has both private and public golf courses that one may enjoy on a sunny Georgia afternoon.

Clayton County Real Estate Demographics

The county population is 275,772 with 49,845 owner-occupied houses and condos and 39% of Clayton County real estate residents are renters.  The median house or condo value is $120,200 and the median household income is $43,582.  The racial makeup is 51.6% African American, 34.9% White persons, 7.5% hispanic, 1.9% Asian and less than 8% other races.  The median age of residents is 30.2 years old; 29 years old for males and 33 years old for females.  Over 40% of the households have children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.7% are married couples, 28% were non-families and 21.8% of households were made up of individuals.

Clayton County Real Estate and Schools

Clayton County real estate currently enrolls 49,508 students and ranks 125 out of 155 schools in the Georgia school district system.  There are 32 elementary schools, 14 middle schools and 8 high schools in the county.

Unfortunately the school system in Clayton County real estate in the August of 2008 was the first in the nation since 1969 to lose its accreditation because people believed that the school board committed malfeasance in ignoring the shortcoming of the school system and violating rules concerning the awarding of bids of contracts.
