Cotswald takes its name from the outdoor mall at the heart of the neighborhood. With a major renovation to the shopping center in the past 10 years, the Cotswald area has become a great destination for those looking for spacious home without the prices of some of the surrounding neighborhoods.
The Cotswald neighborhood is bordered by South Park, Eastover, and Oakhurst in the northwest and east, and the sprawling neighborhoods of South Charlotte in the south. Homes range from $150,000 for a one-story ranch, to $500,000 or more for some of the newer-built homes on the South Park side of the neighborhood. Many of the homes built in the 1950s and 1960s have been renovated in recent years and have large, well-kept yards and updated kitchens and living areas.
Cotswald Village Shops, formerly known as Cotswald Mall, is one of the first suburban malls in Charlotte. Since the recent renovations, the outdoor mall has become more upscale, reflecting the changes in the neighborhood in the past few decades. There’s a large, full service Harris Teeter that is open 24 hours, a Starbucks, Marshalls, Books-A-Million, Bath and Body Works, and many other smaller boutique stores. There are also many dining options in the area including Wolfman’s Pizza, Momma Fu’s Asian House, Chic-Fil-A and the neighborhood hangouts of Eddie’s Place and Charley’s.
Cotswald is conveniently located just minutes from downtown Charlotte or South Park Mall. The intersection of Wendover and Randolph roads has a great view of the Charlotte skyline, but turn down any neighborhood street, with the tall shade-bearing trees and kids playing in front yards and you’ll feel like you are miles away from a large city. It’s the best of both worlds in Cotswald.
