Davidson Real Estate Demographics

Davidson real estate has a population of roughly 160,000 and saw a steady growth rate of nine percent over the last decade. Over half the population lives in rural, non-farm housing while the rest live in urban, or clustered urban environments. This translates to residential housing options on large tracts of private land or in pre-planned neighborhoods and town-centers. Davidson real estate serves as a major 'Bedroom Community' for a large portion of the Greater Triad workforce. Many who work in surrounding counties find Davidson County offers plenty of affordable quality housing within easy commuting distance from the major industry hubs of Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and HighPoint. Davidson Real Estate and Economy

The local economy has seen a downturn in recent years with its main industries of tobacco, furniture, and textiles being internationally outsourced or seeing a drop in demand. Local economic re-invigoration associations such as the Davidson County Economic Development Commission are helping organize and redirect economic expansion in the area. They stated 2009 was one of the biggest years on record for new capital being infused into the county. Numbers cited to support this include 1,360 new jobs created, and over $200 million invested in expanding industry. The newly established Fed-Ex eastern logistical hub at the Piedmont Triad International Airport is also expected to create a future economic boom as more and more jobs are created both with Fed-Ex and supporting services. Median household income as of 2009 was approximately $56,000.

Public education in Davidson real estate is provided by the Davidson County School District. 33 Elementary, Middle, and High Schools serve over 20, 000 students. Of the 1,292 teachers 31% have advanced masters of doctoral degrees. The teaching staff have an average tenure of 13 years in the school district. Lexington and Thomasville provide education for residents within their boundaries. Higher education opportunities are available at the Davidson County Community College.

Davidson real estate is home to six regional parks, most of which offer community sports fields and gathering spaces. High Rock Lake and High Rock Mountain are both opportunity's for Davidson County outdoor enthusiasts.

The county is also home to some of the best known Southern Barbecue in the nation. The Lexington Barbecue Festival is held every October and draws over 150,000 people. Davidson County has over 20 smokehouses of distinction.

The area also has a historic arts and crafts community bred from years of industrial manufacturing of furniture and textiles. Local artisan made pottery, housewares, clothing, and fabric can be found in the county. Downtown Lexington is the center of the Davidson real estate art gallery community.
