In the 1980s, the Dilworth neighborhood was a long-neglected area around downtown Charlotte. Since then, it has exploded into not only condominiums and new homes, but in the amenities it offers as well.
In the 1980s, the Dilworth neighborhood was a long-neglected area around downtown Charlotte. Since then, it has exploded into not only condominiums and new homes, but in the amenities it offers as well.
There are many different types of homes available in the area, from the older, more established homes along Dilworth Road, to the new condominiums built where the stadium for Charlotte’s minor league baseball team used to play along South Boulevard. The neighborhood is bordered by downtown to the north, South Boulevard to the west and Myers Park to the east. Home values range from $150,000 for a small condo, to more than $1 million for a home overlooking the venerable Latta Park or tucked into one of Dilworth’s lattice of streets.
Other than the South Park area, there is perhaps no other area in Charlotte with as many restaurants, bars, deli’s and health food stores. From the many offerings along East Boulevard, to the newer places along South Boulevard, the Dilworth area is a foodie’s heaven. Just along a 10 block section of East Boulevard there are more than 20 restaurants.
You can also find several shopping areas with unique clothing, antiques and jewelry.
Dilworth also has a budding shopping district along South Boulevard with many different stores to buy everything you need for a new home, including unique furniture stores, offices for interior designers, and an architectural reclamation store for those hard-to-find home items.
In addition to Latta Park, Dilworth residents are also near Freedom Park which is shared by the Myers Park neighborhood.
Dilworth also has several stops along Charlotte’s first light rail line, with easy access to downtown for Charlotte Bobcat or Carolina Panther games, or just a night out on the town.
