Most of the homes were custom built by notable architects of the time, (1900's). They were hired by the the affluent population that chose to move there. Druid Hills is lush with greenery and was originally home to the Middle Creek Indians.
Bordering along Ponce De Leon the community keeps the beauty of the area while building a comfortable city feel. It is the home of Emory University, the private Druids Hills Golf Club, Fernbank Forest, the Fernbank Museum of Natural History, the Fernbank Science Center, and Callanwolde. The Druid Hills Civic Association is extremely active and instrumental in keeping the integrity of Druid Hills in tact. Every spring the association offers a Home and Garden tour & Artist Market event.
