Fairfield is a relatively new community in Durham, located between Routes 54 and 55 and Fayetteville Road.  It is conveniently located near mega mall SouthPoint.

The average price of homes sold in Fairfield over the last few years has been approximately $330,000.  18 homes sold in this neighborhood in 2008, while more than 25 sold each year in 2006 and 2007. Average lot size in Fairfield is .33 acres, which is larger than many simiilar neighborhoods.

Fairfield is very close to Interstate 40 (but far enough away never to hear the noise of traffic).  It is just 10 minutes from Research Triangle Park, 15 minutes from Raleigh-Durham International Airport, 20 minutes from Chapel Hill and 15 minutes from the campuses of Duke University and North Carolina Central University.  It is 15 minutes from downtown Durham.

Garman Homes is a major builder in this community in Southwest Durham.  Homesites are mostly wooded.

The community is extremely close to the biggest mall, SouthPoint, in The Research Triangle and surrouding the 10 year old mall are acres and acres of stores including Super Target, REI, BestBuy and others; plus an amazing array of franchise and one-of-a-kind restaurants.  Nearly every international cuisine is represented within just a few miles of Fairfield.
