Yards are shaded but open and quite expansive. Many homes abut the golf course's long fairways and bright putting greens. Modern houses have unique facades including rough stone walls, Dutch barn door garages, and shingled siding. Small lakes and ponds are dotted throughout the community.

The Forest Oaks Country Club offers amenities including a club house bar and restaurant. Golf, tennis, and swimming are also available. The area is 20 minutes from Greensboro via US-421. Raleigh-Duram is an hour away. Grocers and restaurants can be found in the area. Local schools include Guilford County's Alamance Elementary, and Southwestern Middle and High Schools. Many local faith centers are also available. The Piedmont International Airport is 30 minutes away.
