Greensboro, NC real estate is centrally located in between the mountains and beach of North Carolina. It is approximately 2 hours to Asheville, Boone or Blowing Rock in the mountains, and 3.5 hours from the many beaches along the North Carolina coast.

Greensboro, NC Real Estate and the Economy

Throughout much of the 20th century Greensboro and The Triad were textile, tobacco and transportation hubs.  High Point as the "furniture capital of the world," and Greensboro as the headquarters city for a number of major textile firms. In the latter part of the 20th Century, however, this area suffered from the globalization of manufacturing and the loss of thousands of jobs in textile, furniture and tobacco.  As with much of The South, however, the Greensboro, NC real estate has transformed itself into an area where major corporations are choosing to relocate.  In 2004, the Department of Energy awarded Greensboro with recognition as a member of the "Clean Cities Hall of Fame."

Moses and Caesar Cone of Baltimore moved to Greensboro in the late 1800's and transformed the small town into a city with large-scale textile manufacturing capabilities.  The Cone name is seen all over the area because of their major impact on the area.  At one time, Greensboro, NC real estate was considered the center of the textile industry in The South. Of particular note were factories that manufactured denim, flannel and overalls.
