Madison Park is a sprawling neighborhood southwest of downtown Charlotte. Construction of the development began in the late 1950s and 1960s, but you will still find lots today where new homes are being built.
The neighborhood has been well maintained over the years, with tree-lined streets, ample yards, unique home designs, and a family friendly environment.
Many of the original homeowners no longer live in Madison Park, but the new homeowners, many of whom are young professionals with new families, have revitalized the neighborhood in recent years. The location is what attracts many to the neighborhood. Bordered by Woodlawn, Park and Tyvola roads, and South Boulevard to the west, Madison Park offers great location for shopping and dining out at Park Road Shopping Center, access to light rail along South Boulevard, and just a 10 minute drive to Charlotte Douglas Airport International Airport.
Park Road Shopping Center has been the heart of the community since 1956. In addition to a movie theater and a 24-hour Harris Teeter, there are 60 other retailers offering everything from bikes, to books to shoes. In the past 15 years, another shopping center has opened across the street, making the Park Road area one of the busiest shopping districts in Charlotte. The Montford Road area offers 29 restaurants and bars ranging from casual to fine dining. Only a few of the establishments are franchises, so this one of the more unique dining areas in all of Charlotte.
Park Road Park is just a few miles from Madison Park, and South Park Mall is minutes away. With a great location, and great deals on homes, Madison Park is still thriving after 50 years.
