History of Morrisville

The area was originally named in 1852 after Jeremiah Morris, who donated land to the North Carolina Railroad for a depot, water tower, and other buildings. By 1880, the towns population was 165. In 1990, the population was 1,022. Fast-forward ahead to 2008 and the census population stood at just over 13,600.
