In 1892 the Atlanta Journal Constitution titled the community "Atlanta On the Chattahoochee - The City Has Gone Clear To The River- The Sale at Riverside" because its original owner James W. Spink starting selling his lots. Riverside was annexed to Atlanta in 1952.
