Agriculture

Like many parts of North Carolina, it's history is steeped in farming, textile and tobacco. Over the years production in those fields has faded.

Vineyards and wineries have cropped up in several of the former farm fields in Rockingham County real estate. Autumn Creek Vineyards in Mayodan is just seven miles off US 220 on a former farm. It features nearly 10 acres of vineyards, a tasting room, two overnight, getaway cabins, and plans for a special events center and inn. Chinqua-Penn Plantation is thriving off its heritage with the production of Chinqua-Penn wines and a wine tasting room. Riverbirch Vineyards is growing native Muscadine grapes and producing wine on another former farm in the countryside of Rockingham County real estate.

Rockingham County real estate also hosts a Farmer's Market. The market is located in the former stables of Chinqua-Penn Plantation. The market is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from April to November. Downtown Reidsville also hosts the Downtown Farmer's Market in the Settle Street parking lot from May until November.
