Stone Mountain, GA Real Estate’s History

Stone Mountain, GA real estate was established in 1839 under it's original name of New Gibraltar. In 1847 the name was officially changed to Stone Mountain by the Georgia legislature. In the Civil War, during the Battle of Atlanta, Stone Mountain, GA real estate was burned and destroyed on General W.T. Sherman's orders by men under the command of general John McPherson on July 19, 1864.

Stone Mountain Park

Features of the park include: a recreation area, camping facilities, a thirty-six-hole championship caliber golf course, an antebellum plantation with a grist mill and covered bridge, a skylift, a waterside complex, a reproduction Mississippi riverboat, and the ever popular Stone Mountain Laser Show, which are all enjoyed by the owners of Stone Mountain, GA real estate owners on a daily basis.
