

The community of Willowhaven was started in the mid-1950's with the Willowhaven Country Club and golf course being built by George Cobb in 1957. The country club was known as Willowhave Country Club until 2008 when it was refinanced, refurbished and opened as a semi-private club.

Homes are mostly traditional in style, with a mix of some contemporary homes. Homes in Willowhaven have been built from the late 1950's through the 1990's. Most lots now have homes on them. Lots range from .25 to 1.5 acres and square footage generally ranges from 1,500 to approximately 4,000 sq. ft.
The 6,665 yard golf course is now considered one of the finest public golf facilities in this part of North Carolina. What is now called Umstead Pines Golf and Swim Club sports rolling fairways, smallish greens and beautiful scenery . The neighborhood is still known as Willowhaven. In addition to its great golf course and swimming pool, Umstead Pines also has a lovely clubhouse and dining room.
Willowhaven is just North of the Eno River in Durham County. It is 10 minutes away from highway 15-501 and Interstate 85 which goes due north from Durham toward Richmond and due east to Greensboro, Winston-Salem and Charlotte.
Willowhaven is 15 minutes from Duke University's West Campus and Duke University Medical Center. It is approximately 30 minutes to Research Traingle Park, Chapel Hill and Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
